Too blunt? Maybe...

So, I was watching the news today and I saw a story about a family whose mother had been sent back to Nicaragua. She was an illegal immigrant living here. Her husband is also an illegal immigrant and might be sent back as well. The story was about how this family was being torn apart and was questioning the governments stand on immigration laws.

First off, I can't imagine being separated from my family, it would be horrible and I hope I never have to experience it. That being said, why is it the governments fault that this family (emphasis on the parents) chose to come to America, fully knowing that the were living here ILLEGALLY and could be exported??? I HATE that the media makes the government out to be the bad guy in this situation (I know, I know, I am totally close minded). I also get plastic sacks at the grocery store and will most likely never own a Subaru outback :) If the logic holds true that we shouldn't export illegal immigrants because they have a family, then we shouldn't arrest criminals who have families either. We certainly shouldn't put anyone in prison that has a family and surely shouldn't give anyone the death penalty that has children.

I realize there are a lot of flaws in the judicial and government systems, but I think the world would be a thousand times better if people started realizing that they are RESPONSIBLE for their own actions!!!

Sorry for venting, but come on!

Thanks for the sweet comment. My friend Lindsay just gives random tips on her blog occasionally so you kind of have to scroll through. By the way I love the St. George pics, are you getting into photography?

I totally get that.. they knew it was illegal when they came. so...

everyone is always looking to put blame on someone else. this world would be a better place if everyone would just start taking accountability. it'll never happen.

I saw that too and thought the EXACT same thing. Some kids were on the Today show and the hostess acted like the "big bad gov't" had wronged the world and I thought "what am I missing here?" I'm glad I'm not the only one. Thanks for sharing. :)

Oh Michelle, I just love you! You are not offending anyone in this family because we feel the same way!

Miss Michelle...
I just read this post and thought it was so funny. I think that maybe we should have a conversation about this sometime. You have a different outlook when it's your family...
XOXO Monique

AMEN!!! Ok I know I am just a crazed californian.. but I am so sick of utahans being so naive about illegal immigration!!! IT's illegal, that means it's a crime!!! Californians were all sensitive about it too, and look where we are, we pay for every illegal child born, plus their parents, plus their gang member siblings. However you are punnished if you are a law abiding citizen. There are taxes on everything just to keep the state going.. and were still way in debt.
for example: there is a tax to register a vehicle so the total to register our car was $250 it was a subaru btw.
In L.A. there is a sales tax of 10%... uh and believe me this is not a mormon city!
i understand that this is a family, and to LDS people that is heartbreaking, but there are many families all over the world that we can't just take care of, our country finacially cannot afford it, and it's not worth the other potential risks.
oh and one more thing, I don't think people understand the crime rates that are associated with illegal immigrants: nationally 30% of prison inmates are illegal (and we have to pay for them) I can't even immagine what it is in more highly populated area.
